The Parish Council installed the outdoor gym equipment in the Recreation Ground in summer 2011. The basketball practice area is also freely available to all and no booking is required for either of these facilities.

More Awards for our Playing Fields and Play Areas in 2018

At the 2018 AGM of the Essex Playing Fields ssociation held on 25th October the Parish Council was again presented with a Gold Award in the category for playing fields serving a population of 2,500 or more and a Silver Award in the children's playgrounds category. This acknowledges the high standards noted by the EPFA judges when they visitied these facilities.

Noakes Place

This is the area behind the Community Association building that adjoins the Recreation Ground. It slopes down towards Buckleys and Baddow Road and contains the ponds and the sensory garden installed by the Parish Council. We took over the management of Noakes Place from Chelmsford Borough Council (as it was then) in 2000 and it was maintained by our grounds staff for several years. We are currently in negotiation with Chelmsford City Council to restore this arrangement.

A Tree Trail leaflet is available to help you enjoy a walk through here. Copies are available free of charge from the Parish Council Office, the Community Association or Great Baddow Library. Or click here to download a copy.
